This powder is used to make a tartar dissolving rinse.

- Helps to remove tartar and plaque buildup on teeth

- Recommended by Dr. Paul Keyes, Former US Dental Director, NIH

- Safely and progressively works to remove buildup of plaque and tartar

Ingredients

Our patented formulation (patent # 8,298,516 and 8,303,938) contains only safe, proven, food and dental industry ingredients: STPP - Sodium Tripolyphosphate, TKPP -Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda (maintains a healthy 7.6 pH) Citric Acid (product delivery and pH control) Fluoride .04% (40X less than toothpaste). When added to water, the baking soda and citric acid add fizz in order to draw the active tartar-dissolving ingredients into solution while maintaining a healthy 7.6 pH. While Periogen ingredients are used in both the food and dental industry, we had our product independently safety tested beyond what is required of an oral care product by Nelson Labs of Salt Lake City, Utah. A word about fluoride. It is a required ingredient and provides a charge source to break the electrostatic bonds that enable tartar to stick. We use the smallest amount possible, a fraction of what is in fluoride toothpaste. This small amount, is rapidly used up as a layer of tartar is removed. Therefore whether swishing Periogen, applying via an oral irrigator, or conducting your own in-vitro test! it is important that a fresh solution be mixed and used with each daily application. One 3 ounce bottle of Periogen when mixed with water makes over 5 gallons of rinse!

Directions

Periogen may be swished to dissolve tartar above the gum-line. To dissolve tartar below the gum-line, we recommend applying Periogen with the Waterpik Ultra WP100 oral irrigator. Using the PikPocket tip included with the WP100, Periogen can be delivered as deep as 6mm. A modified PikPocket tip, bent to 90 degrees, is optionally available which provides an improved angle for periodontal pockets around rear molars. For very deep pockets, a soft syringe-style deep pocket applicator is available. Alternative WATERPIK additives such as baking soda and citric acid will do nothing on hardened tartar as they lack any tartar eliminating properties. In fact, such mixtures may become acidic due to a low pH. Also, no toothpaste on the planet can remove tartar once formed. All toothpaste companies can do is claim their product "fights" or tries to "control" tartar buildup. Once tartar has formed, it can only be removed by Periogen or a trip to the dentist! We at the Periogen Company encourage you to do thorough research prior to purchasing any product. You should read all reviews and especially the comments associated with each review. While we are proud of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we urge scrutiny of reviews posted by individuals that have not purchased the product.
